PennDOT hoping to reopen I-81 near Harrisburg Tuesday

I-81 may reopen Tues

HARRISBURG, Pa. - PennDOT is hoping to reopen Interstate 81 near Harrisburg after a harrowing fire last week.

Officials are looking at reopening the highway Tuesday.

I-81 has been shut down at the Route 322-22 interchange since Thursday, when a diesel tanker rolled over and caught fire.

The blistering heat damaged an overpass that runs over I-81.

Long-term repairs are expected to take months.

Traffic restrictions are expected to stay in place while officials go to work.
