Rick Santorum: Students rallying for gun control should learn CPR instead

Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum said students should learn CPR instead of rallying for gun laws.

Santorum made the comments on CNN's "State of the Union" Sunday.

He said teenagers shouldn't look to other people to solve their problems, but find their own way to prevent violence in schools.

The Republican said students could take CPR classes, work to stop bullying, or respond themselves to a shooter instead of asking lawmakers to pass a law protecting them.

The comments prompted outrage on social media.
