'Person of interest' named in elderly man's disappearance

Rico Herbert found to have missing man's car, wallet, police say

Police have arrested a man they consider to be a "person of interest" in the disappearance of an elderly man.

Rico M. Herbert was arrested in Charlotte, N.C., on Saturday on charges of receiving stolen property after he was found in a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu belonging to Joseph DeVivo. Herbert also had DeVivo's wallet, police said.

DeVivo, 87, was last seen more than a week ago after a caregiver dropped him off at his home off Route 209 in Stroud Twp., Monroe Co., authorities said.

Devivo's family reported him missing on Saturday, police said. Hours later, they found his car.

Herbert is facing previous outstanding warrants from the Monroe County Sheriff's Department, as well as in South Carolina.

Anyone with information about Herbert, his associates or his whereabouts on Feb. 23,  is asked to contact the Stroud Area Regional Police.

DeVivo has not yet been located. He is described by police as being a white man standing 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds. He has green eyes and gray hair.

The regional police are working with the Monroe County district attorney's office and the Charlotte/Mecklenburg Police Department in North Carolina on the investigation.
