PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. - Several high school students were taken to a hospital after they were reported to have eaten cookies laced with marijuana.

Police reported being called to Phillipsburg High School in Warren Co., N.J., on Thursday afternoon for a student who was in an "altered mental state."

It was discovered, police said, that the student, and others, ate cookies laced with marijuana.

The students were taken to St. Luke's Hospital's Warren campus. Officials could provide no information about their conditions.

Parents of Phillipsburg students have been made aware of the incident, police said.  They've been told what to watch for and what to do if their children become ill.

An investigation of the incident is on going, police said.
