Plans move forward to replace industrial park in Allentown

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - An old industrial park in Allentown could be in store for a big makeover.

Allentown City Council voted Wednesday night in favor of including the 15-acre site in the Keystone Opportunity Zone, or KOZ.

The property includes the old Allentown Metal Works factory on South 10th Street. If the site is approved to join the KOZ, it will be exempt from taxes for 10 years.

City officials said the factory would likely be torn down and replaced.

The Allentown School Board and the Lehigh County Board of Commissioners still have to vote on whether the site can join the tax zone.
