A former high school football standout who landed in the NFL is heading to trial on DUI charges.

Phillip Michael Ryan, IV was in court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.

Police say Ryan was driving under the influence and speeding when his car crossed the center line and collided with another car on Route 309 in Tamaqua, Schuylkill County, in June.

Ryan and two others were hurt.

Ryan was an offensive lineman at Marian Catholic High School and the University of Connecticut.

He was signed, and quickly cut by the Cincinnati Bengals in May.
