Investigators are releasing preliminary details about a deadly helicopter crash in Monroe County.

The National Transportation Safety Board says a passenger on that helicopter texted his limousine driver that he was running late on the night of October 9th.

That was about 20 minutes before the helicopter he was in crashed in Coolbaugh Township about a mile from Mount Pocono Municipal Airport.

The helicopter was also flying in instrument conditions.

That means the weather was bad enough the pilot couldn't see the ground or the horizon.

The helicopter was returning to Westchester County Airport in White Plains, New York after a golf outing.

The pilot, William Ellsworth of Hunterdon County, New Jersey, and another man were killed.

Another man was hurt.
