A woman died in a three-car accident in Schuylkill Co. Wednesday night.

It happened around 8 p.m. Wednesday near Routes 895 and 61 in Deer Lake Borough.

Police said Sharon Barney, 59, of Old Forge was traveling in a car driven by John Stambaugh, 49, of Reading, on Route 61 when it rear ended another vehicle trying to make a left turn., police said.

Officials say Stambaugh's car then went airborne, and landed on a pickup truck in another lane.

Barney was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt. Stambaugh was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest with major injuries. He was wearing a seat belt.

Officials say those in the pickup truck - driver Cody Zimmerman, 32, of Port Clinton, Pa., passenger Kelley Zimmerman, 30, also of Port Clinton and two young children, suffered minor to moderate injuries. All were wearing seat belts or were in a child seat.
