Hazleton man pleads guilty to 3 bank robberies

All took place in Luzerne County in April 2012

A Luzerne County man has admitted to robbing three banks last year.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, 35-year-old Shawn Luther Kelley of Hazleton pleaded guilty Tuesday to the three robberies.

He entered his plea in federal court in Wilkes-Barre and admitted to the following robberies:

PNC Bank, 499 Susquehanna Blvd., Hazle Twp., April 16, 2012;
Choice One Community Federal Credit Union, 983 N. Sherman Court, Hazleton, April 20, 2012 and
Citizens Bank, 40 W. Broad Street, West Hazleton, April 24, 2012

Kelley was arrested shortly after the Citizens Bank robbery on April 24, 2012.

The maximum penalty is 60 years in prison.

A sentencing date was not announced.
