National Night Out educates community on crime prevention
Stopping crime can be as easy as taking a night to educate your family on crime prevention.
National Night Out, a crime prevention event hosted by the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Foundation and the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department (PMRPD), will be held on August 6 from 7 to 9 P.M. at the Tunkhannock Township Municipal Park on Long Pond Road.
Several departments from the PMRPD along with other agencies will set up displays featuring useful information.
National Night Out is designed to engage the community in crime prevention awareness, generate support for local anti-crime programs, strengthen community and police partnerships, and warning criminals of community involvement of crime prevention.
The event will feature free fingerprinting, as well as giveaways and free ice cream for children.
The event is free for the public and is a chance for the community to interact with the communities first responders.
