A Bushkill man is in custody after leading police on a car and foot chase through Monroe and Pike counties, according to State Police.

State Police in Swiftwater say they were called to the area of Route 209 in Middle Smithfield Township around 3:20 p.m. Friday regarding a theft suspect who had stolen items from a construction site and then almost struck one of the employees while leaving the scene.

A short time later, police said a man matching the description of the suspect, 51-year-old Kenneth Glenn Dodek of Bushkill, was seen leaving a nearby Turkey Hill gas station in a pick-up truck.

Police say Dodek then led them on a car chase on Winona Falls Road.

Dodek's truck crashed into another vehicle as he passed into Pike County, police said. He drove through the security gate into the Sawcreek development before coming to a stop on Lancaster Drive.

Police say Dodek ran into the woods. He was tazed by a trooper after ignoring commands to stop, according to police.

Police say Dodek was under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance.

Dodek was transported to the Monroe County Jail. He is being charged with fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, leaving the scene of the accident, and several other violations.
