Three Stroudsburg residents pled guilty to charges of animal cruelty for denying their 6-year-old Puggle veterinary care.

Shaunna Hock, 21, Christopher Boyd, 35, and Laura Mitchell Ludwig, 54, were charged with cruelty to animals in October 2013.

The dog, Lacey, suffered from untreated mange.

Hock, Boyd and Ludwig were identified as Lacey's owners based on information from her microchip. They had reported Lacey as a stray and left her tied in a supermarket parking lot in attempt to get her veterinary care that they claimed they could not afford.

Lacey has been placed with a foster family and her mange is being treated, according to the PA-SPCA.

The Commonwealth seeks restitution for the veterinary bill incurred for the treatment of Lacey's mange condition and a limitation or prohibition on each defendant's ownership of animals for 90 days, which is the maximum permitted by the statute, according to the PA-SPCA.

A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for January 2, 2014 at 3 p.m. in the Magisterial District Court for Stroudsburg.
