An old ski area in the Poconos is looking for a new lease on life.

Alpine Mountain is on the auction block.

The 103-acre ski area in Price Township emerged from bankruptcy last year.

Alpine Mountain opened in the 1950s as Penn Hills Ski Area.

The current owner, Appletree Resource Group, helped bring the place back from the brink.

They're ready to sell it to someone with big plans in mind.

"They felt from their management experience that it was a viable business opportunity, and so now their goal is to pass it on to someone who has the longer-term vision that it will take to reinvigorate it," said Renaissance Auction Group owner Bill Howze.

The Renaissance Auction Group, based out of Reading, is running the auction.

It's a sealed bid process that will close September 18th.
