The family of a restaurant owner who killed himself in a Monroe County jail has been awarded nearly $12 million by a grand jury.

Mumun Barbaros killed himself in a jail cell back in 2009.

He was awaiting trial on charges he vandalized competing businesses in Monroe County.

His family filed a lawsuit saying the company that provided medical care at the jail was negligent in its supervision of Barbaros.

Barbaros was the owner of the Continental Grill in Canadensis.
