Mark Kessler reaches settlement with borough, inks reality show deal

GILBERTON, Pa. - The borough of Gilberton has reached and agreement with controversial Police Phief Mark Kessler.

As part of the agreement, Kessler will retire as police chief.  He also agreed to never attend another borough council meeting. He cannot contact council, the mayor, borough employees or their families unless they initiate contact first, and he can't speak about them publicly.

The borough will pay Kessler $30,000 as part of the agreement.  Officials have also agreed not to challenge Kessler if he files for unemployment.

Meanwhile, Kessler said he has just inked a deal with a national production company for a reality show.

Kessler received attention for posting profanity-laced video tirades online while firing automatic weapons.

Kessler has said he is exercising his First and Second Amendment rights with his speech and his weapons.

Kessler said in a phone call Thursday, that he is starting a new career in the entertainment business and working on his own show right now.

He said it will be a reality TV show based in Pa.

Kessler said he signed the deal two days ago but he wasn't sure about when the show will air.

"Everything is now in the hands of producers," Kessler said.
