66-year-old stabbed by juvenile, ruled a homicide

BLACK CREEK TWP., Pa. - The death of a 66-year-old woman in Black Creek Township Friday has been ruled a homicide.

Troopers responded to a residence shortly before 7 a.m. along Market Street in Luzerne County Friday for the report of a stabbing between family members.

Officials say when they arrived, Sandra Lee Montanari, of Weston, Pennsylvania, was found deceased in the living room. A 43-year-old male and a 17-year-old male on scene were taken into custody.

Through investigation, officers discovered the 17-year-old came to the female victim's residence and stabbed her to death. The 43-year-old, Allen Montanari, was determined to be Montanari's son and was in the house during the attack. He was stabbed while trying to stop the incident.

Officials say he was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The 17-year-old is facing charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault and simple assault.

The investigation is ongoing.
