Abandoned dog recovering well after surgery

Jacob up and running around, shelter workers say

STROUDSBURG, Pa. - A badly injured dog abandoned outside a Poconos animal shelter is well on the road to recovery.

The Animal Welfare Society of Monroe County (AWSOM) found a Maltese with a matted down coat left in a cage outside Monday morning.

The dog--Jacob-- had surgery at East Stroudsburg's Pocono Peak Veterinary Center Wednesday where veterinarians had to amputate his right front leg.

The center shared a photo of Jacob standing not long after surgery.

On Thursday, the center shared a video of Jacob's first walk and he seems to be enjoying himself!
