Aqua Pennsylvania steps in to save troubled water system in Chestnut Hill Twp.

CHESTNUT HILL TWP., Pa. - Aqua Pennsylvania will now provide service to the Sun Valley water system serving around 200 residents in Chestnut Hill Township.

Aqua was granted approval by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission to provide service, as the township has been on a boil advisory since 2015.

State legislators said the community's water system hasn't received any consistent oversight or maintenance. This is where Aqua comes in, investing $2 million to replace the entire water system to ensure safe water.

That boil water advisory was lifted as of Jan. 26.

"We realized our constituents had a serious public health issue and wanted them to have the best service,” he said. “We called on a company that not only has a long history of providing great service to its legacy customers, but one that has developed a reputation for bringing troubled systems into compliance with environmental regulations to ensure public health," State Representative Jack Radar said in a news release.
