Authorities investigate another alarming police impersonation incident

Watch out for police impersonators

HAMILTON TWP., Pa. - Adding to the recent list of disturbing police impersonation cases in the 69 News coverage area, authorities in the Poconos are investigating a report of two men driving in a car with red and blue lights trying to pull over another vehicle.

The latest incident happened around 3 a.m. Sunday in the area of Routes 33 and 611 in Hamilton Township, Monroe County.

State police said a newer dark-gray sedan attempted to pull over a vehicle as they were traveling through a construction zone on Route 33 North.

Police said the victims continued driving until stopping for a traffic light at Route 33 and Route 611.

That's when the victims told police that the driver and passenger of the car that tried to pull them over got out of their vehicle.

The victims told police the driver started yelling profanities at them, while the passenger threatened to shoot them. The suspects then drove off on Route 611 and headed right on Bartonsville Avenue.

Police said the driver is described as a black man in his 20s or 30s wearing a black and white tank-top, jeans, sneakers and bandana. The passenger is described as a Hispanic man with black curly hair, light-colored T-shirt ad jeans.

Police said the victims were able to get a partial PA registration for the vehicle, JMH51.

Sunday's case is among several incidents of police impersonation to occur in the 69 News viewing area.

In late July in Palmerton, an armed man pretending to be a police officer initiated a traffic stop, according to state police.

In May, an imposter told a woman in a convenience store parking lot in Wilson Borough, Northampton County that he had a warrant for her arrest.

He threatened to use a Taser on her before she got away. Then in Wind Gap, 27 year old Micheal Schedin was busted for allegedly pretending to be a cop working a drug investigation.
