Beltzville Lake reopens for swimming

Swimmers rejoice!  Beltzville Lake water is safe again.

Folks flocking to the popular swimming hole to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday will be able to safely swim in the lake.

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) reopened the lake for swimming as of Friday.

The DCNR had prohibited swimming as of Tuesday because of high bacteria levels in water samples.

This seems to be a common occurrence at the lake, as DCNR officials have closed the lake to swimmers several times already this season.
