Death of man found outside burning home ruled a suicide

SOUTH MANHEIM TWP., Pa. - A man found dead outside his burning home in Schuylkill County last Friday died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, state police said Monday.

The coroner has ruled the death of Gerald Everett Hale a suicide.

Hale was found dead in the front yard of his home on South Shue String Lane in South Manheim Township after firefighters responded for the report of a fire.

The home was ultimately destroyed. The cause of the fire remains undetermined.
