Deer crashed into woman's car as she drove

HAMILTON TWP., Pa. - A woman is lucky to have sustained only minor injuries on Monday after a deer crashed through the driver side window of her car.

According to police, Nicole Zafiropoulos was only driving approximately 40 mph in the right lane on Greenview Dr. in Hamilton Twp. in Monroe County, when a deer ran across the roadway straight into her car.

Zafiropoulos sustained injuries because the driver side window of her 2011 Mazda Model 2 was rolled down, so the deer's head hit the left side of her head and face.

Her car also sustained minor damage to the door panel and the driver side-view mirror as a result of the impact.

She was evaluated by members of the Central Pocono EMS but she declined further treatment on the scene.

Police said she opted to make her own arrangements to go to Pocono Medical Center.

Her car was secured at the scene for her to retrieve at a later time.
