East Stroudsburg student, 19, stabbed during altercation outside dorm

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - State police are investigating after a student was stabbed during an altercation at East Stroudsburg University in Monroe County.

State police said Shaquwan Davis-Boone, 19, was stabbed and injured just after 10 p.m. Wednesday near the Shawnee Quad.

The school put out a safety alert saying the attack began in front of Shawnee Hall as the victim was walking from the Mattioli Recreational Center.

Davis-Boone told investigators he was leaving the gym when a group of males and two females came up to him. He said they got into a verbal and physical fight, and that's when Davis-Boone was stabbed.

Police said he was stabbed once in the back and once in the side. He was taken to a local hospital where he is in stable condition, officials said.

State police in Stroudsburg and University Police are investigating the incident.

The school urged students to walk in pairs and groups along well-lit pathways.
