Fire heavily damages rowhouse in Carbon County

LANSFORD, Pa. - A 3-alarm fire tore through and badly damaged a rowhouse in Carbon County Friday night, according to the Lansford fire department.

The Lansford fire department responded to the fire, which was called in at 8:50 p.m.

Summit Hill, Tamaqua, Nesquehoning, Mahoning, Coledale, Tuscarora and West Penn Fire Company also responded to the call Friday night.

The house on 403 Abbott Street sustained heavy damage from the flames last night.

The fire department said crews were able to contain the fire before it spread to 403 and 405, but that those buildings sustained smoke and water damage.

The fire was brought under control at 12:05 a.m. Saturday.

The buildings were occupied at the time of the fire, but everyone was evacuated.

There were no injuries.

2 cats perished in the fire, and 2 cats were saved. 

The Lansford fire department is ruling the fire accidental at this time. No suspicious activity is suspected.
