Fundraiser helping injured football players

MOUNT POCONO, Pa. - A community in the Poconos opened up their hearts and wallets to help two high school football players who were critically injured in a car accident.

Pocono Mountain East football players Steve Dienno and Justin Bullock are still in the hospital after an accident in Paradise Township, Monroe County last month.

Thursday night a fundraiser for the players' families was held at Pocono Mountain West High School.

The event included an auction of 85 donated baskets a raffle and lots of food.

"All money given in tonight will go to the two families because everything here tonight was donated right down to the baked goods, hot dogs, sodas and water," said organizer Toniann Weirich.

According to investigators Dienno lost control of the car causing it to go airborne, and hit two trees before splitting in half.

Another player was also in the car and hurt but he is out of the hospital.
