Police: Palmerton woman kills self at stranger's house after child sex accusation

VIDEO: Palmerton woman kills self...

PALMERTON,Pa. - An attempted arrest ended with suicide in Carbon County Thursday.

Palmerton Police showed up at a home on Mauch Chunk Road Thursday afternoon to arrest 46-year-old Belinda Heller for allegedly having sex with a 15-year-old boy.

But before police could move in, Heller shot and killed herself in a home.

"I was throwing the garbage over, next thing you know, I heard, the gunshot," said a woman who lived in the home where it happened, but asked not to be identified.

The shot she heard came from a closet in her son's bedroom--a room she thought was empty.

Strangely, Heller didn't live in the home, and the family that does, had no idea Heller as in the house.

The woman, who does live in the home, tells 69 News she believes her 15-year-old son's friend snuck the 46-year-old in sometime Wednesday night.

They didn't even know their son had a friend over.

Police say that 15-year-old friend was removed from the home as a safety precaution and in a police cruiser when Heller fired the gun.

But others were still inside.

"My son was sitting on the couch, and I'm like what happened, the cops told us, everyone get out of the house, everyone get out of the house," the woman said.

Now the family hates the idea of even going back inside.

"I'm totally freaked out to be in this house…My 15-year-old will not even stay here," she said.  "When I say this house is evil, this house is evil."

At the very least, an evil reminder of an incredibly painful, horrifying day.

"I am so emotional after all this, I just keep crying, and I don't know what I'm going to do," she said. "I haven't slept, I haven't eaten."

The emotional pain is not the family's only heartache right now.

They were renting the home, and tell us because of the incident, have been served an eviction notice and even lost a job over it.
