Warming Station open 24 hours in Monroe County

MIDDLE SMITHFIELD TWP., Pa. - Many individuals are still without power in Middle Smithfield Township as a result of the two recent winter storms.

Although over 1,000 linemen are in the area working around the lock to restore electricity, the township has opened its warming station as of Thursday for a full 24 hours.

Whispering Pines Banquet Hall at 1445 Big Ridge Drive will be offering hot showers from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., free WiFi, a charging station for devices, and a warming station. However, the station asks for you to bring pillows and blankets as no cots or beds are provided.

You will also be able to fill your containers with water and get ice to preserve your food.

No pets, no food or drink, and no medical services are provided.
