Police: Ex-principal had sexual relationship with student

EXETER TWP., Pa. - The former principal of a Christian school is facing charges of having a sexual relationship with a student.

Frank Love, formerly the principal of the Berks Christian School in Exeter Twp., Berks Co., surrendered to authorities Monday, police said.

"We received initial reports about the incident approximately three weeks ago," said Berks County District Attorney John Adams.

Love, 39, admitted to one of his administrators that he was having a sexual relationship with a teenaged female student, said investigators, who noted that the relationship was consensual.

Love told one of his administrators that his relationship with the student started in the fall of 2011, according to court documents.

The sexual encounters happened in the student's home during late night hours after the student's mother had gone to bed, according to the police criminal complaint.

Authorities said they are taking the allegations very seriously.

"We send our children to school," said Adams. "We expect them to be protected, and we don't expect that they will be put into a position where a teacher or administrator would be in a relationship with our children. We take it very seriously."

69 News tried to speak with Love about the allegations at his home in Shillington, but no one answered the door.

Adams added that, because of a recently passed Pennsylvania law, it is now illegal for school administrators to carry on sexual relationships with high school students.

"We cannot allow our teachers to be taking advantage of their students," said Adams.

Love is facing charges of institutional sexual assault, endangering the welfare of children, and corruption of minors.

Even though Love surrendered to police Monday, he was released without bail, authorities said.

Love is cooperating with the investigation, Adams said.
