Police investigating 2 more crash & grab ATM theft attempts

READING, Pa. - Police are investigating the attempted "crash and grab" thefts from two more automated teller machines in Reading.

The latest incident happened at 3:14 a.m. Thursday at South 14th Street and Perkiomen Avenue. Another took place at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 800 block of Windsor Street, police said.

Stolen Hondas were used to crash against the machines in both theft attempts, said police, adding that both vehicles were later recovered.

No money was taken in either incident.

The attempted thefts follow one other attempt at South 11th and Spruce early Wednesday morning and an actual theft from an ATM in the 100 block of West Oley Street early Tuesday morning. Stolen Jeep Wranglers were used to crash into both machines, said police.

Anyone with information about the "crash and grab" thefts is asked to contact Crime Alert Berks County at 877-373-9913. A cash reward of up to $5,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
