Police looking for bank robber on a bicycle

Suspect left Jim Thorpe National Bank Tues. on a 2-wheeler

PENN FOREST TWP., Pa. - A bank robber got away Tuesday on a bicycle, police said.

Police in Carbon County are on the lookout for a man who robbed a bank at gunpoint, then fled on a small mountain bike.

The man entered the  Jim Thorpe National Bank at 1397 Route 903 in Penn Forest Twp. around 1 p.m.

Police said he pointed a small black handgun at two female tellers and demanded cash.

After receiving money from the tellers, he left the bank and was last seen riding the bike south on Route 903.

The robber was described as a thin white man wearing a black mask and black clothing.

Anyone with information or who may have seen the suspect near the bank is asked to call state police at Lehighton at 610-377-4270.
