Excavation of superfund site delayed due to shutdown

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - The government shutdown means the clean-up of a contaminated waste site in Bucks County will have to wait.

The Environmental Protection Agency was scheduled to begin the process of excavating the former Chem Fab facility in Doylestown this week.

But now the agency says the project's been delayed by the shutdown.

Chem Fab is considered a "superfund" site.

That means it's an abandoned or uncontrolled place with hazardous waste materials.
