State owned universities told to freeze weapons policies

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Pennsylvania's 14 state-owned universities have been asked to freeze their existing weapons policies.

The move comes after Kutztown University announced a policy change allowing people with concealed weapons permits to carry guns on parts of campus.

The state system's chairman says a task force is now going to review the issue.

Students with concealed-carry permits had questioned the constitutionality of blanket weapons bans at the state schools.

Kutztown officials say the university's new policy will stay in place during the review.
