Reading Murder Suspect Waives Extradition

READING, Pa. - A teenager accused of opening fire at a party, killing one person and injuring two others, will soon be brought back to Berks County.

Matthew Perkins, 17, waived his extradition hearing this morning, Reading police said.

He was arrested Monday in Osceola County, Florida.

Authorities in Florida were investigating recent thefts from vehicles. They went to a hotel to question people and Perkins answered the door.

Perkins is accused of shooting and killing Cesar Rivera, 22, in an alley near North 11th Street in Reading on July 30. Two others were wounded.

He's expected to be brought back to Reading within eight to 10 days.
