A new report says Pennsylvania has the highest rate of structurally-deficient rural bridges in the country.

The report, by TRIP, a national transportation research group, says a quarter of Pennsylvania's rural bridges were found to be structurally deficient in 2013.

That's up eight percent from 2012.

The researchers say this number is expected to decline, however, with the recent passing of Act 89.

The measure includes funding for road, highway and bridge repairs.
