Richard Miller killed in Maxatawny Township accident

Victim was a 56-year-old man from nearby Mertztown, officials say

MAXATAWNY TWP., Pa. - A Mertztown area man was killed Tuesday morning when his car went off the road and struck a utility pole, officials said.

The accident happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. on Noble Street, near Bastian Road, in Maxatawny Twp., Berks Co., just outside Kutztown.

The driver, Richard Miller, was trapped in the car, which was wrapped around the pole., when emergency crews arrived on the scene.

Miller, 56, died at the scene, officials said.
