Safety House to be refurbished

Safety House to be refurbished

EXETER TWP., Pa. - Fire officials are hoping a special renovation effort will help save children's lives.

The Exeter Volunteer Fire Company, Berks Fire and Water and the Home Depot are working to refurbish a Fire Safety House.

The house was about to be demolished before officials stepped in.

It will be used to show families on what to do if their home catches fire.

"They're now bringing a house that was nothing more than scrap on wheels back to a functional training unit that will reach thousands of children every year with a fire safety message," said Dan Dillard with the Burn Prevention Network.

Officials plan to have the home up and running by Fire Prevention Week in October.
