Schuylkill County fugitives surrender following standoff

FRACKVILLE, Pa. - A standoff involving a pair of Schuylkill County fugitives ended peacefully when the two men surrendered to state police, authorities said.

The standoff began around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday when troopers attempted to serve a warrant for the arrest of Steven L. Androshick at a residence in the unit block of Fourth Street in Frackville, state police said. Androschick was wanted on felony forgery and other charges.

While outside the residence, police said they also learned that another fugitive, Harry R. Baney, was also inside. Baney was wanted for allegedly resisting arrest and fleeing from police following a retail theft at the WalMart in Saint Clair earlier this month.

Neither man would answer the door, resulting in the state police's special emergency response team (SERT) being called to the scene. Police said both men surrendered around 12:45 a.m. following negotiations with SERT officers.

Both men were committed to the Schuylkill County Prison.
