Several behind bars after synthetic marajuana bust

READING, Pa. - Several properties and businesses throughout Reading were raided by authorities, Thursday, for allegedly selling and making synthetic marijuana.

A strong odor was coming from one of the homes in the 300 block of S. Eighth Street, police said, and once inside, they discovered a synthetic marijuana lab, as well as about 100 pounds of the leaf called Damiana.

Damiana is a shrub grown in southwestern part of the U.S., as well as Latin America, and is used in medications ailments like headaches, constipation, and to improve sexual desire.

Search warrants were obtained for properties in the 8000 block of Allentown Pike in Maidencreek Twp., a store in the 1400 block of Cotton Street in Reading, as well as the 900 block of Culvert Street.
During the raids police confiscated:

More than 500 packages of K2;
A loaded .223 assault rifle;
2 ballistics vests;
3 ballistics face masks;
more than $30,000 in U.S. currency; and multiple other items, including three vehicles that will be submitted for forfeiture under drug laws.

Police arrested Brandon Miranda, 24, Isuain Alvarado-Rosado, 34, Maria Garcia-Ortiz, 25, and Orlando Alvarado-Rosado, 32. All four suspects are facing felony-level drug charges.

Authorities are still looking for Jesus Medina, 32, from the 2200 block of Hampden Blvd. and Eric Cintron, 33, from the 8000 block of Allentown Pike.
