9-year-old killed in early morning Chester County fire

EAST COVENTRY TWP., Pa. - Officials said a 9-year-old boy died in a fire in Chester County Sunday morning.

The fire was reported around 5:30 a.m. in the unit block of Buckwalter Road in East Coventry Township.

Fire officials said the father got home early Sunday morning, saw the fire and tried to rescue the boy.

The boy died from smoke inhalation at the scene. The father sustained injuries to his arm while rescuing the child.

Multiple crews responded to the fire.

State Police said the fire started in the kitchen and has been ruled accidental.
