Bodies of elderly couple found in Lower Providence Twp

LOWER PROVIDENCE TWP., Pa. - Two people were found dead in a Montgomery County home but how they died is still unknown.

The elderly couple were found in their home Friday and police say there is no apparent indication of violence.

An autopsy should offer more insight into the deaths, but in the meantime neighbors are mourning the loss of the elderly couple.

"We called aging services to come out and check on them. It's been pretty cold so an extra set of hands checking in can't hurt," said Pam Hill.

Hill says she hadn't seen her neighbors of about 10 years for a while.

Police came out to the house on North Trooper Road in Lower Providence Township, Montgomery County Friday and found the elderly man and woman dead inside.

Police say carbon monoxide tests were negative, there are no apparent indications of violence and the heat was working, so the deaths aren't believed to be related to the cold weather.

Police say both people were in their 80s and it appears they had been dead for "an extended period of time," according to a press release issued Friday by Lower Providence Township Police.

"They were avid in the local Catholic Church, they loved to travel, he had two cars that he loved. I think that were just very much in love, they didn't have any children and they would have wanted to go together so I don't know if that's really a terrible thing," Hill said.

Autopsies are scheduled for Saturday.

Police have not released the couple's names at this point.
