BOYERTOWN, Pa. - The Colebrookdale Railroad hosted an excursion geared for kids and adults with autism and their families.

The Autism-Friendly Train went on a round-trip between Boyertown and Pottstown Saturday.

The excursion was run in a way that specifically addressed the needs of those on the autism spectrum, in order to make them feel comfortable with the surroundings.

"Adults and children who live on the autism spectrum often have a hard time experiencing new outings, new experiences in restaurants, travel and trips, and excursions like taking the train," said co-organizer Michele Barrett.

Three local organizations partnered with Colebrookdale Railroad to organize the event, including The Autism Village, Unending Promise, and The Spring-Ford A-Team.
