Officer Fox honored, one year after his death

A Plymouth Township police officer was killed in the line of duty one year ago on September 13, 2012.

On Friday, Officer Bradley Fox was honored with a Fallen Hero plaque. Family and friends of Officer Bradley Fox gathered to celebrate and remember a hero.

During the ceremony, Officer Fox was awarded with the District Attorney's Medal of Honor, which is the highest honor presented to a law enforcement officer in Montgomery County.

District Attorney Risa Verti Ferman hosted the event along with Plymouth Township Police Chief Joseph Lawrence.

"Brad was a man who truly had everything that he wanted in life, and life was good, and then it ended without warning and without a chance to say goodbye," Ferman said.

On September 13, 2012, Officer Bradley Michael Fox was murdered while pursing Andrew Thomas, who fled from a hit and run accident.

Investigators say Thomas ambushed Officer Fox along with his K9 partner Nick and shot Officer Fox to death.

Thomas then shot and killed himself.

Nick recovered from his injuries, and now lives with the Fox family.

Officer Fox is celebrated as a dedicated Marine, police officer, friend, and family man.

He was killed the day before his 35th birthday, leaving behind his wife, daughter, and unborn son.

The dedication of the Fallen Hero plaque was presented on the Schuylkill River Trail in Conshohoken: the site of Officer Fox's death.

It is the 20th plaque dedicated to fallen heroes in Montgomery County: "It represents Brad Fox: the man who ran into the danger and risked his life so that we could be safe," District Attorney Risa Verti Ferman said.

One month after the tragedy, The "Brad Fox Law" was passed, restoring a minimum five year sentence for anyone convicted of making repeat straw gun purchases in Pennsylvania.

Michael Henry is currently serving 20 to 60 years in jail for selling Thomas the gun used to kill Fox.
