Pa. Turnpike lanes reopened between Lansdale, Quakertown

A serious crash that shut down part of the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Wednesday morning has been cleared.

The crash happened at mile marker 41, about three miles before the Quakertown Interchange, in Milford Township, Bucks County.

Several tractor-trailers and box trucks were involved in the crash.

Officials said five people were injured but the severity of their injuries is not known.

Hazmat crews were called to the scene as well, most likely because of leaking diesel fuel from the trucks, authorities said.

All northbound lanes were closed at the Lansdale Interchange and a detour was in effect. As of 2 p.m., all lanes have reopened.
