Student Collapses In Class, Dies

Counselors To Be On Hand For Classmates, Staff

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The day at one local school took a tragic turn Thursday.

Officials at Liberty High School in Bethlehem told 69 News that a student collapsed suddenly in class Thursday morning.

Chief Deputy Coroner Paul Zondlo identified the student as Juanya Spady, 15, of the 200 block of Lehigh Street in Bethlehem.

School personnel called 911 and administered first aid, but the boy later died at the hospital.

An autopsy performed Friday failed to determine how Spady died. Further tests are being done.

Superintendent Joseph Roy said Spady was a sophomore.

The school said its crisis response team was on hand for students and teachers Friday.
