Teen charged in deadly altercation on river trail

READING, Pa. - A 15-year-old has recently been charged with robbery and assault for an altercation that led to a deadly shooting on a popular trail, Berks Co. District Attorney John Adams announced Wednesday.

Authorities said a Governor Mifflin student was one of three boys who tried to rob a man on the Thun Trail in Cumru Township last month when the man pulled out a gun and started shooting.

One of the boys was killed. The boy charged most recently was wounded. The third boy has been ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.

Authorities said the man who fired the shots won't be charged because he was acting in self defense.
