Thieves swipe dozens of trophies from Moselem Springs

RICHMOND TWP., Pa. - Dozens of trophies have gone missing from the clubhouse at the Moselem Springs Golf Club in Richmond Twp., Berks Co.

Burglars pried open the front doors of the clubhouse on Eagle Road just before midnight Tuesday and removed silver and copper trophies from display cases in the lobby, said police, who noted that some of the stolen items date back to the early 1900s and display family names with historical connection to the club.

Club personnel, responding to an alarm, were on the scene within 10 minutes of the break-in, but police said the burglars had already made their getaway by using a golf cart, which was found a half-mile northeast of the club.

Some light fixtures were also damaged during the heist, police said.
