Truck hauling BMWs, Mercedes bursts into flames on Route 222

MAXATAWNY TWP., Pa. - A truck hauling luxury cars burst into flames on Route 222 near Kutztown early Tuesday morning.

Pictures show the flames the firefighters were dealing with around 1:45 a.m. on Route 222, near Crystal Cave Road, in Maxatawny Twp., Berks Co.

We're told the truck was hauling nine BMWs and Mercedes from the 2009 to 2011 model years. All but one of the cars was destroyed, officials said.

The fire started when the truck's brakes overheated, and the flames spread fast, officials said.

The damage tops $470,000.
