Oley crash sends 1 to hospital

OLEY TWP., Pa. - A man was seriously injured in a head-on crash between a pickup truck and a dump truck in Berks County.

The accident happened shortly before 6:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 6800 block of Boyertown Pike, also designated as Route 562, in Oley Township.

The dump truck was traveling east on 562 when it crossed the center line and hit the pickup head on, police said.

The driver of the pickup, Charles Rogers II, of Barto, was flown to Reading Hospital; the dump truck's driver was transported there by ambulance for evaluation, police said.

Route 562, between Route 662 and Airport Road, was closed for more than five hours while police investigated the accident.
