Two severely injured in Monroe County motorcycle wreck

MIDDLE SMITHFIELD TWP., Pa. - Two people were severely injured in a drunken-driving motorcycle crash in Monroe County, according to state police.

The accident happened around 10:40 p.m. Saturday on Route 209 in Middle Smithfield Township when a motorcycle crashed into the back of another vehicle.

Both the driver and passenger of the motorcycle were flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital for severe injuries, police said. They were not wearing helmets, according to police.

The motorcycle driver, 44-year-old Michael Lida of Landing, N.J., is facing a DUI charge, police said.
