Upper Mount Bethel Township expected to offer farmers alternative to sludge

UPPER MOUNT BETHEL TWP., Pa. - A township in Northampton County is expected to talk money and sludge in a special meeting Monday afternoon.

According to Upper Mount Bethel Twp.'s manager, the supervisors have a special meeting scheduled at 2 p.m. to discuss a plan to help farmers pay for an alternative to using sludge as a fertilizer.

The supervisors are expected to take a formal vote at Monday's meeting.

Sludge has been a controversial topic in the township over the past months and former supervisor Ron Angle has been threatening the use of sludge on his land.
